Debtor Loses Possession of Assets

A Chapter 7 debtor loses possession of all property that can be sold or liquidated to pay creditors (subject to the rights of secured creditors). However, the debtor is entitled to retain possession of exempt property and any property abandoned (or deemed abandoned) by the trustee. Thus, you will want to determine if you cannot exempt some of the assets and possible consider a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.
