Applicable Code provisions:

Chapter 7 liquidations are governed by 11 USC § 701 et seq. In addition, Chapters 1, 3 and 5 of the Bankruptcy Code apply in Chapter 7 proceedings. [See 11 USC § 103(a)]
Chapter 1 contains general provisions (e.g., definitions, rules of construction, court power, eligibility requirements, extensions of time, etc.). Chapter 3 concerns case administration (e.g., commencement of case, officers of the estate and administrative powers of estate). Chapter 5 governs (among other things) creditor claims, the debtor’s duties, exemptions, discharge, estate property and trustee avoiding powers.
